My company has been dealing with the wholesale, distribution, manufacturing, export and import of health-related products for almost 20 years now.

I have 100 employees, my company sells 18,000 different items and our turnover will be over 18 million euro this year.

But it hasn’t always been like that.

I am an architect by my original profession, but in the ’80s after having lived 5 years in Africa and giving birth to 3 children I couldn’t find a suitable job in this field.

I tried to run a small clothes store, but I couldn’t become successful enough with that. Later on I was venturing in the catering business by running my own Danish bakery, but that could not be adjusted with my family life as it required night labour.

I was lucky enough to find the field that interested me the most and that still suits me the best, which is the health business.

First I trained only myself regarding the use of healthy products. Then together with a friend we opened a retail shop. It was first run by ourselves, then by 1 and later by 2 employees. We soon had to realize that the wholesale sector to supply our retail store does not work very well and only exists as state owned companies.

So we ventured to launch a privately owned wholesale company for healthcare products with 3 employees but without specific knowledge, tools and money. We were lucky to choose this field because health consciousness has become really trendy by now.

Back then this field was only covered by pharmacies, very few herbal shops existed. By now there are thousands of them and on top of that drug store chains, franchise health shop chains and even webshops are competing with each other. We developed, grew bigger and became stronger and stronger together with them. Our activity has been followed and copied by a dozen companies in the past 20 years. Even me and my former business partner have separated and run our own business now. But the priority to be the first, and the secret of a special philosophy are such key tools in our hand now that no other company can challenge us and thus these two companies could remain the market leaders and the most trusted ones.

At the early stage of our development we could self finance our company for 7 years from the profit we made. Then, we built our first own property warehouse, for which we needed a bank loan of EUR 60,000.

After working together for 10 years my business partner and I separated. The main reason was probably the different familiar background thus the different motivations and different management styles. Since I wanted to move out of this business relationship and we could not agree on the conditions of the separation, unfortunately all the fruit of our work till that point including the property, the stock, everything, all stayed under the control of my former business partner.

I needed to step back in order to be able to get out of this uncomfortable situation. This may happen in a marriage as well but luckily this was „only” a business relationship.

I needed to start everything from scratch. But with the gained experience together with the loyalty of 7 of my former employees and with the full backing of my family, in just 4 years we could rebuild a new company to the same level as we were at the point of the separation.

After renting bigger and bigger warehouses for 4 years with the help of a loan of EUR 2 million we could once again build an own property warehouse.

By now we have 1000 suppliers and we serve over 3000 retail stores with 18,000 different products.

We import and distribute hundreds of items and on top of that we invent and manufacture a lot of different health related products. Our wide spread marketing activity includes participation in exhibitions and conferences and we are also involved in the activity of different non profit organizations of our field to gain new experiences and continuously train ourselves.

I am proud that I could build up my company the way that even if I leave for many weeks, the business goes on without me. I am happy to be able to provide existence to hundreds of families indirectly. I am satisfied that from scratch I could build something that will last longer as one of my 3 children will take over the business. I am happy that my husband accepted this very difficult role to be my backup.

I am a satisfied woman.
